In September 2026, Stanley Roof and Solar replaced the roof on Randy’s home in the Aldercrest neighborhood of Milwaukie, OR. The 19-year-old roof had an old solar water heater system that no longer worked and was leaking, and the insulation had been soaking up the water so it never showed on the ceiling. We removed the old system, repaired the rotted decking and installed a complete Malarkey roofing system with Vista shingles in Midnight Black.

What was wrong

The roof was 19 years old and carried an old solar water heater system that was leaking and no longer worked.

The leaks had caused extensive wood rot that was just starting to affect the framing. The insulation held the water, so it never showed up on the ceiling.

What we did

Tore off the old roof and removed the solar water heater’s plumbing and framing.
Replaced approximately 8 sheets of rotted plywood.
Installed Malarkey 1031 Secure Start Plus underlayment, Malarkey 401 Arctic Seal and SmartStart starter shingles.
Installed Malarkey Vista shingles in Midnight Black with Malarkey EZ-Ridge hip and ridge caps.
Installed new shingle-over intake and ridge venting, Lifetime Tool pipe flashings and Lifetime Tool bath vents.
Installed two permanent roof anchors for future safety.
