In January 2026, Stanley Roof and Solar replaced the roof and installed solar panels on Christina and Ken’s home in the Hazel Dell area of Vancouver, WA. The 9-year-old home had a roof with improperly installed products and ventilation, and it was leaking and damaging the ceiling. We replaced it with reflective Malarkey Vista Silverwood shingles and installed a 9.2 kW bifacial solar system that produces power from sunlight on the front of the panels and from light reflecting off the shingles onto the back.

What was wrong
The roof on this 9-year-old home had been installed with the wrong products and poor ventilation. It was leaking in several places around the home and damaging the ceiling.
The homeowners also wanted to go green and lower their electric bill.
What we did
- Completed a full tear-off and replaced 12 rotted sheets of plywood.
- Installed Malarkey 401 Arctic Seal where the solar panels would be mounted, plus Malarkey 1031 Secure Start Plus underlayment and SmartStart starter shingles.
- Installed new shingle-over intake vents at the eaves and plugged the old vent holes to fix the leaking ventilation.
- Installed Malarkey Vista shingles in Silverwood, a reflective color, with Malarkey EZ-Ridge hip and ridge caps, Lifetime Tool pipe flashings and bath vents.
- Installed 9.2 kW of APTOS bifacial solar panels with microinverters.

The homeowners received a lifetime Malarkey shingle warranty with Emerald Premium registration, which includes a labor warranty.
